Ashley worked as an Investigator for the Forrest County Public Defender's office from 2009 through 2017. She next worked as an Investigator/Mitigation Specialist for the Federal Public Defender's Office for the Northern District of Florida until 2019, when she returned to Mississippi to begin work as a Mitigation Specialist for the Office of the State Public Defender in Jackson. Ashley holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Political Science and Paralegal Studies.
